About Julie and her values

I am a qualified and registered social worker. I became a social worker due to personal experiences, and a strong belief in the importance of people being listened to, understood, and treated with respect.

I would describe myself as a people person, someone who connects easily with others and values honesty, fairness, and approachability in all aspects of my work and personal life.

Alongside my professional role, I am a sister, aunt, great-aunt, mother, grandmother, and partner, and family life is important to me. These roles shape how I see the world and help me understand the realities of family relationships, change, and challenge. I have a good sense of humour, enjoy spending time with family, and value simple things such as walking and being outdoors, which help me stay grounded and balanced.

Professionally, I have over 20 years’ experience working with children and families across the UK. I have spent much of my career in frontline children’s services, from social worker through to management, which has given me a strong understanding of both professional systems and the impact they can have on families.

My social work values are very much the same as my personal values, and this  guide how I work with children and families. My approach is calm, down-to-earth, and child focused. I believe good social work is about building genuine relationships, listening properly, and keeping children safe while treating families with dignity and respect.

J’s Social Work Assessments was established in 2021, and I have grown from strength to strength, providing services across the UK. Since 2021, I have completed a significant number of reports and have been called to court on one occasion when a local authority contested my recommendation. After giving measured evidence, the court agreed with my recommendation, resulting in a positive and safe outcome for the child.

I undertake regular and ongoing training to ensure the work I complete is robust and analytical, and that I am able to provide clear, fair, and safe recommendations in all of my reports.
